Human performance shooting
Integrating sports science with law enforcement

build a foundation:
At HPi Training, we believe in constantly improving ones skill set. Law Enforcement has become more open-minded about integrating practical and competitive shooting skills into their training regimen. We couldn't agree more and advocate for law enforcement to take courses from high level performance shooters to better their skillset behind the gun. It has been one of the best things to happen in the law enforcement training sphere over the past decade. We'll always advocate for taking competitive shooting classes, because the more motor patterns you build when pushing the limits, the more options you will have to reference when getting behind the gun.
BUT...
As law enforcement professionals, we cannot forget the aspect of our job that matters most when shooting...decision making. What differentiates HPi Training from others are the movement patterns we teach in an ever changing environment. Reactive movement calls for a different neural pathway than planned movement. Our ability to process information is just as important as shooting the gun as fast as you can. Once we understand how our biomechanics help our ability to evaluate our surroundings, the rest can fall into place. This helps prevent injury, makes us move more efficient, and most of all...sets us up to make the right decision and win a gunfight.

Course Descriptions

2-day pistol / rifle decisional movement
$500
This 2-day pistol and rifle course both physically and mentally demanding. We dive into the biomechanics of explosive movement that officers deal with on a daily basis in unknown environments. Law enforcement officers are not just shooters...they have to be thinkers. Understanding how our vision is used for information processing and coupling it with the proper biomechanics is overlooked in today's LE training. High level professional athletes have been using these concepts for decades to better their craft. This course acts as a bridge between Sports Science and tactical shooting.

1-day pistol
decisional movement
$250
A shortened version of the 2 day pistol / rifle class, this 1-day pistol only class establishes the foundational biomechanics of how operators maneuver as they process information. This class is both physically and mentally demanding. Every law enforcement officer needs this course to gain knowledge from a sports science perspective and how it coincides with our use of force encounters.

CORE PILLARS
They don't happen seperately...

Processing
Our brains are working 24/7...including when we aren't even aware of it. Part of decisional shooting is taking the cognitive aspect and making sure its aligned with our senses.

Vision
The main sensory category that drives a majority of our decision making. Understanding what our eyes do during stress can help guide us into better movements as we react.

Movement
What we all do, but not as well as we want. Physical fitness is a must, but don't neglect the type of movement that is required of you on the job.
